Challenge and Solution
Our partners at Mayak, a non-profit dedicated to informing Ukrainians about evidence-based mental health resources, asked us to create a site that would allow its users to find psychological help in Lviv, Ukraine. The goal was to avoid typical problems present in other platforms like paywalls or absence of proper verification for mental health assistance providers.
This project is dedicated to fulfilling our social mission of assisting our home community in Lviv, Ukraine. So, we took an initiative in addressing the Mayak team in order to ask them about their needs and then assembled a team of interns supervised by our best experts to deliver the necessary project.
A fully functioning non-profit website for finding qualified and certified mental health help in Lviv, Ukraine.

Solution 1: Creating a Search and Filter System Based on Core Industry Standards
The search feature on the website is based on a thorough analysis of modern mental health assistance standards performed by our team and supervised by experts at the Mayak team. This expertise-oriented method helped us create an elaborate system of both general and Lviv-related search filters. Users can look for specialists based on criteria such as specialist type, district, competence level, price, and consultation format. This search feature also allows users to enter specific requests (for instance, fear of the unknown or procrastination) and, based on the information provided by listed experts, it can connect patients with professionals that work with those specific concerns.

Solution 2: Delivering a User-Friendly Interface to Guarantee Maximal Inclusion
Websites aimed at mental health assistance must be as inclusive as possible, covering a wide range of technology skill levels. For this reason, special attention had to be paid to this aspect of development. We’ve created a comfortable interface that should be easy to use even for people without previous computer competence: it includes an intuitive layout that gives immediate access to Mayak’s core search features, a robust system for informing users about events aimed at improving mental well-being (support groups, psychological education, and art events that can have a lasting positive impact on mental health), and easy-to-access social media integration, which streamlines communication with Mayak experts.

Solution 3: Making a Positive Impact on the Lviv Community
We volunteered to do the project in order to help our home city. Mayak aims to assist many vulnerable groups of Lviv residents through this site by providing an extensive database of information about psychological services completely free-of-charge, contributing to the reduction of the mental health service availability issues. More importantly, the site focuses on offering only certified and completely verified data for its users: thus, when an expert or organizational profile is added to the website, it undergoes a thorough evaluation, ensuring that only licensed specialists and organizations are listed.
